Abstract

The black and white photographs were taken by William Foshag of Paricutín Volcano, July 7 - August 17, 1944. Includes image numbers F229 - F257. On the reverse side, some include the image number, date, and sometimes a description or indication of vantage point. Subject matter includes views of town and individual structures consumed by lava flows; view of lava with church of San Juan in the distance; candid images of local inhabitants in the midst of damaged structures; examples of smoke plumes and ash; Old Zapicho flow; inhabitants dismantling the church; and views from San Juan. Includes duplicates.
