The ectoparasite survey data sheets document collecting of insects from mammals gathered as mammal specimens for the Division of Mammals, Smithsonian Venezuelan Project, 1968. They are organized by host specimen number. These sheets cover host specimen numbers 21500 - 23999. Cards are dated but are not always chronological. Information is entered on preprinted sheets (BAMC form 2-193) covering type of ectoparasite, time of day, weather, phase of moon, wind, specific site #, temperature (maximum and minimum), humidity (maximum and minimum), elevation, latitude and longitude, trap nights or net hours, topography, cover, forest succession, site moisture, capture site, bait, host condition, hose measurements, host identification, age, sex, embryos, stomach contents, nature of specimen, other parts saved, notes, date, collection number. Notes sometimes impart additional information about habitat or condition of specimen. Sometimes information includes USNM catalog number.
