Abstract

The black-and-white photographs document the work of D. E. Harvey in Mauritania as part of the Smithsonian Institution African Mammal Project, 1966 - 1967. On the reverse side of the photographs are captions with location (including distance from), date, and sometimes subject matter (sometimes genus) and photographer. Some photographs are without captions. Subject matter includes specimens (mammals, turtles), observed mammals, detail image of vegetation, and vistas of terrain. Locations include Chinguetti, Fort Gouraud [Fdérik], Nouakchott, Aleg, Tiguent, and Zbeyat.
