Abstract

The black and white photographs were taken by William Foshag of Paricutín Volcano in Mexico, May 27 - July 31, 1943. They include numbers F15 - F33c. Images include dates on the reserve side, and some have descriptions and time of day. Subject matter includes nighttime and daytime eruptions from various vantage points (including aerial) and distances around the cone; emanating clouds; an individual standing by a cross erected to ward off danger to the nearby village with volcano erupting in the background; damaged church in nearby community; structures buried in lava; and inhabitants in process of moving through countryside.
