Abstract

Photographs were taken by A. C. Risser, Joe De Beers, R. E. Cole, and Hazel Smithers documenting their work for the Smithsonian Institution African Mammal Project, 1963 - 1964. On the reverse side of the photographs are captions including photographer, subject matter, location, and sometimes date. Subject matter covers participants, colleagues, and local inhabitants; types of traps; mammal specimens (genetta); ostriches at a farm in South Rhodesia; terrain (mealie field), and a tame kudu cow. Photographed participants include John Dixon, Art Risser, and Ron Cole. Locations cover North Transvaal province [Limpopo] and Natal province [KwaZulu-Natal], South Africa.
