Photographs were taken by A. C. Risser and T. A. Heist documenting their work for the Smithsonian Institution African Mammal Project, 1963 - 1964. Photographs list photographer, subject matter, location, and date on the reverse side. Subject matter includes collecting locations with traps showing habitat of Parotomys, George Hughs collecting in Natal Province (South Africa), participants with friends, group portraits (some with names indicated), plants (South West Africa [Namibia]), terrain (dunes, plains). Locations include Cape Province, South Africa.
