The field book documents the collecting of W. Chris Wozencraft in Madagascar for the Smithsonian World Wildlife Fun Research Project on Galidictis grandidieri, October 29 - December 10, 1989. He worked with E. Jean Brennen, Norbert Ramaharobandro (Professor at University of Tananarive), and Nasolo Raktoarison. Includes a statement of project objectives and agreements, list of supplies, reptile list, bird list (description of type, size, appearance, photograph taken). The journal is paginated (1 - 85). Journal entries are dated and describe travel details (route, time of day, meetings and interactions with colleagues and inhabitants, lists of contacts and their information, daily activities, costs, weather, field work completed, hand drawn maps of collecting sites, details about tagging of mammals (ear tag number, transmitter number, frequency, measurements, and weight), specimen collecting, observations of variables affecting individual trap success. There are sketches of specimen anatomy. There is a list of details for trap locations along grotto trail; waterhole and reserve trail. Each details trap location, dates, description of terrain and observed flora and fauna.
