Abstract

The field book documents the mammal collecting of James T. Lowery in Viet Nam, 1965 - 1966. Includes a catalog and species notes. The specimen catalog pages are numbered (1 - 30) and headed with date and locality (combination of landmark (i.e. Da Nang Airfield or Mount Sontra [Sơn Trà]), region, country, distance from), specimen number (1 - 53), sex, type (scientific name), 5 measurements, weight, and sometimes details about anatomy. Sometimes there are notes about specimen condition or second identifier. Sites include Mount Sontra [Sơn Trà]. A portion of the notebook is blank. |The species notes are headed with type of wildlife (includes snakes, mammals) including a number (possibly specimen number). They cover locations and descriptions of wildlife (colors, appearance, measurements). These are followed by "observations of Rhacophorid egg mass."|There are loose inserts in back, authored by D. A. Anderson. Includes dated journal entries (June 28 - 29, 1965) covering collecting in upper Wolf Creek (possibly in Owsley county, Kentucky); journal entries for September 11, 1965 in Kai Shank camp; specimen catalog entries for July 12 - August 15, 1965 in Viet Nam covering specimen number (1 - ), sex, type, 4 measurements, weight, and notes on embryos and sexual organs; 2 maps of Viet Nam; and memo on "information for guests of the Division of Reptiles and Amphibians."
