PrintThe field book documents the mammal collecting of Peter F. D. Van Peenan in Viet Nam, February 21 - April 4, 1968. It includes specimen log with journal entries. He was part of a Navy medical research team with M. L. Cunningham and J. F. Duncan completing a mammal survey of Côn So'n Island. Journal entries describe work and interactions with colleagues and local inhabitants (including prisoners), daily work, observations of flora and fauna, communities on the island. specimen entries cover type, location, habitat, measurements, weight, vegetation, collecting method, specimen number, and sex. There are sketches of some anatomy. Location information varies, but includes a combination of site number, distance from, region, elevation. A portion of the notebook is blank. The end of the notebook is a list of expenses, itinerary, and contacts.
