Abstract

Original logbook of the Albatross, dredge numbers 3691-3694, hydro numbers 3934-3970, 3 November 1899 to 7 January 1900. Data recorded include survey and hydro number (no.), date, machine, turns, correction, depth, shot or lead, bottom, bottom temperature, number of thermometer, correction, corrected temperature, air temperature, surface temperature, drift, trawl or dredge, sounding wire readings, dredge rope readings, serial temperatures, and general remarks. Localities are not named, but South Pacific Ocean coordinates near French Polynesia, Tuvalu, and other islands, and North Pacific Ocean coordinates near Kiribati are included.
