PrintThis field book consists of the field notes of Remington Kellogg on mammals, fish, and birds observed and collected in Kansas and possibly other locations, 1903. Some notes are dated 1907 and 1910. Several entries include Kellogg's observations of live specimens including opossum mother and offspring and a lamprey eel. The entries include narrative descriptions of observed appearance and behavior, and measurements. Kellogg also includes an entry on a beaver, including measurements and dissection notes. Also includes recipes and directions for making baits for rabbits, muskrats, meadow mice, rats, coyotes and wolves, cetellus, pocket gophers, prairie dogs, (possibly transcribed from another source). A short list of birds observed (and possibly collected) is included, along with velocity. Localities include Lawrence (KS) and possibly others.
