Abstract

This item refers to field data collected by Leonard P. Schultz on the Marshall and Mariana Islands, as part of Operation Crossroads, 1946-1947. A title page states that field data is for an accession of "38,706 fishes, crustaceans, reptiles, echinoderms, mollusca, corals, annelids, worms, coelenterates, and algae" collected by Schultz and Capt. Earl S. Herald. The contents of this binder include field data record forms issued by the Division of Fishes, U. S. National Museum. The forms have handwritten entries for tag number, location, locality, date, distance from shore, depth of capture, depth of water, method of capture, collector, list of species or kinds. Includes tallies of specimens measured and wrapped, lists of fishes tagged. Some pages include longer narrative notes on specimens and method of collection.
