Abstract

The field book documents C. O. Handley's field work in Michigan, January 31 - February 2, 1949. The notes are headed with title, "first annual report of the North Woods or Bust Club." Members include Bill Lunk, Bob Mengel, and Bud Tordoff. Describes a collecting trip (at Tordoff's request) to Oscoda County. Entries are dated and headed with location or route; pages are numbered (1 - 22). They describe a collecting trip during Handley's time at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, which was for professional and recreational purposes. Details include personal and professional observations and interactions, weather, terrain and vegetation, travel details (accommodations, meals, routes), flora and fauna (birds) observed. Last entry lists birds observed and birds that were not seen as anticipated.
