Abstract

Original logbook of the Albatross, Hyd 3240 to 3281, dr 3477 to 3481, 26 April to 12 July 1893. Data recorded include survey and hydro number (no.), date, machine, turns, correction, depth, shot or lead, bottom, bottom temperature, number of thermometer, correction, corrected temperature, air temperature, surface temperature, drift, trawl or dredge, sounding wire readings, dredge rope readings, serial temperatures, and general remarks. Localities are not listed in this volume, but the albatross was known to be near Mare Island then near the Aleutian Islands (based on the history of the ship's activities). Some notes on specimens collected are included.
