Abstract

The field book is one of three envelopes document C. O. Handley's field work in the Arctic, 1946. The first envelope is a the field book of Allen J. Duvall documenting his work with Handley in September 17, 1945 - August 27, 1946. Details vary in format for the first few pages with lists of bird and sightings with dates and locations, notes on mammals and birds, birds lists, notes on weather. Eventually they include date, weather, position / location (sometimes at sea), time, and bird and mammal lists with quantities as well as abundance / rarity and sometimes notes on behavior. There are hand drawn maps of Union Bay and Erebus Bay, Tay Bay. Locations include Baffin Islands and Gulf of Maine.
