Abstract

This volume is a log of specimens collected by Leonard P. Schultz and others for the Navy surveying expedition to the Phoenix Islands [Phoenix Group] in 1939. Specimens are primarily fish, but also include birds, invertebrates, and other taxa. Records are entered by field or tag number, which span from U-39-1 to U-39-992 and U-01000 to U-01104. Each record generally includes date, locality, and specimens collected. Capture method and color notes are also included for some records. A few hand-colored drawings of fish are included in the volume. Localities include Canton Island [Kanton], Enderbury Island [Enderbury Atoll], Hull Island [Orona], Swains Island, Tutuila Island [Tutuila], Rose Island, and other islands and at-sea localities in the Pacific Ocean.
