Abstract

The materials cover C. O. Handley's bird and mammal notes for 1975 - 1976; Panama, BCI, Mar - April 1986; and October 1986 on figs. There are tabs headed with bat cataloging, mammal notes, BCI trees, and figs. Begins with journal entries for 1986. These begin with a calendar with location and activities noted for March - October. Entries cover March 18 - May 8 and October 1 - 29. They discuss travel details (routes, mode of transportation, accommodations), weather, collecting (including times of day), specimens (including fruit), observed flora and fauna (mammals and birds), interactions with colleagues and their work, daily work, notes on the Bocas Islands work, information about area poaching activities, and expenses. There are miscellaneous notes, drafts of correspondence, descriptions of storage and equipment used at BCI bat lab. |In section called "bat catching," are lists of bat catches with year, listing range of months, quantity of a bats, and number of nights. Some notes relate to weight and information about ball chain necklaces. These cover a range of 1976 - 1982.|Mammal notes for BCI cover March - April, October 1986; 1987 in Bocas del Toro. Notes for 1987 are chronological. Subsequent entries are not clearly grouped chronologically. They cover date from 1979 to 1982.
