Entries are detailed narratives describing aspects of the volcano, such as the flow of lava (smell, formation, and appearance); details and changes of the orilla, craters, and cone; area terrain; and effect on the village of Paricutin. Other subject matter includes weather; details about campsites and travel around the cone of the volcano for further observations; and ongoing eruptions. Both types notes describe Paricutin, though the second also discusses vegetation and wildlife of the area, and daily entries are often sub-headed with time of day and event or observation.
