Abstract

This folder contains data sheets, correspondence, and other documents related to cruise 31 of the Eltanin on the Pacific Ocean between San Francisco and New Zealand in 1967. Included are field data records of the Smithsonian Oceanographic Sorting Center for field numbers RHG (Robert H. Gibbs, Jr.) 67-37 to 67-79, for collections made from 17 November to 16 December 1967 at stations numbered in the range of 1 through 27A. Fields include depth of water, depth of capture, and method of capture. Listed on each sheet are the name and number of specimens collected. Station localities are plotted on a map. Also in the folder are data sheets on which trawling data (e.g., wire angle, wet volumes of catch) are recorded, jet net data sheets, specimen labels, depth charts, tables of compiled data, and correspondence and other documents related to the cruise. Some post-cruise correspondence is dated 1968.
