PrintThe journal documents the field work of Charles O. Handley, Jr., in Bocas del Toro, Panama, March 19 - April 1, 1962. Entries are dated and headed with location. Entries describe travel details, personal and professional activities, interactions, staffing, collecting methods (type, quantity), specimens collected (birds and mammals with notes on behavior, i.e. bird songs), surrounding vegetation and terrain, flora and fauna observed, and weather. There is a hand drawn map of Chiriqui lagoon. In some entries are detailed descriptions of specimen anatomy and related sketches. There are notes in the margins relating to subject matter in the entries. He references the presence of Alexander Wetmore in the area. Locations are in the Canal Zone and Bocas del Toro including Isla Escudo de Veraguas and Isla Bastimentos.
