Abstract

Original logbook of the Albatross covering station numbers Dr 3011 to 3077, Hyd 1831 to 1864, recorded 23 March to 29 August 1889. Data recorded include station number (no.), date, machine, turns, correction, depth, shot or lead, bottom, bottom temperature, number of thermometer, correction, corrected temperature, air temperature, surface temperature, drift, trawl or dredge, sounding wire readings, dredge rope readings, serial temperatures, and general remarks. Some notes on specimens caught are included (type and quantities of fish or other marine life). Correction table included in the back of the book. Localities are not listed in this volume, but the Albatross was possibly in the Gulf of California; Tacoma, Washington; or between Port Townsend and the Bering Sea (based on the history of the ship's activities).
