Abstract

The unbound diary documents Edward Preble's trips to Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and Washington, DC during April 20 - December 24, 1930. Entries are dated, some are headed with locations, and narrative in style. Entries include names of colleagues as well as details about interactions and activities; wildlife observed, sometimes including quantities; observed birds with common names; vegetation; daily activities and notes on meetings of the American Humane Association and the American Ornithologists' Union, notes on individuals, and lists of photographs taken. Locations mentioned include the vicinity of Kezar Falls, Maine; Bullneck Run, Virginia; and Ossipee, New Hampshire.
