Abstract

This item consists of the photocopied field notes of Roger B. Clapp, created between 1963 and 1964, and some species observation checklists created in 1968. Clapp's work was done as part of the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey. Field notes document Clapp's observations of physical appearance and behaviors, nests, and eggs of birds on various islands and atolls throughout the Pacific Ocean, including American Samoa, Gilbert Islands, Hawaii, Kiribati, and Marshall Islands. Field notes also indicate bird banding and bird marking activities. Species mentioned include Albatrosses, Frigatebirds, Golden plovers, Red-footed boobies, Ruddy turnstones, shorebirds, and seals.
