Abstract

This folder contains field notes, data sheets, maps, correspondence, and other documents related to cruise 3 of the Anton Bruun for the International Indian Ocean Expedition (IIOE) in 1963. Included are data recording charts that appear to indicate depth or some other measurement taken during trawls, copies of trawl logs for stations 1-17 (trawls 1-28), and maps showing the expedition routes. Trawl logs, data tables, and a graph indicate that expedition members collected data on volume of marine invertebrates and fish at different depths. Typed pages of a field journal, probably by Robert H. Gibbs, Jr., dated 10 August to 19 September 1963, detail travel, research activities, and life on the ship. Correspondence to and from expedition members details cruise logistics and conditions on the ship. Documents from after the cruise include reports from the cruise, dated 1964, and copy of a list of fish families from the cruise, dated 1965.
