Abstract

This item consists of two field journals and species accounts by Joe T. Marshall, detailing his field work with birds from May 6, 1965 - December 27, 1966. Dated journal entries include such information as times, altitudes, weather conditions, terrain and forest descriptions, and bird lists with species. The pages of the first journal are numbered 1-48 and deal only with species from Fiji from May 6-29, 1965. The pages of the second journal are numbered 1-65, range in date from January 4 - December 27, 1966, and deal with species from areas such as Thailand, the Philippines, Texas, and Kansas. Both journals are followed by species accounts which are organized by species and contains dates and specific localities, as well as accounts of different occasions of observing and collecting. Altitudes and numbers of birds are recorded, and there are some bird sketches and mammal information as well. There are also some miscellaneous notes and a field map of Fiji.
