Abstract

The diary is from Edward Preble's trip with Wilfred Hudson Osgood and George Howard Parker to Pribilof Islands to Alaska in 1914. Entries are dated, and list travel destinations. It includes multiple tables in between journal entries. Entries describe weather, vegetation, wildlife (including birds), physical surroundings, group sealing (hunting) by indigenous inhabitants, especially fur seals. Includes seal counts at several locations in the Western Aleutian islands. There is also a list of photographs taken. Locations include the vicinity of the West Aleutians -- Pribilof Islands, Akutan Harbor, Polovina Hill, and Sea Lion Rock.
