Abstract

This field notebook details the work of Joe T. Marshall with birds and mammals from January - May, 1938. Localities include but may not be limited to areas within California. The notebook is separated into three parts: "List of species recorded in field notebook under species accounts," "General Comment," and "Species Accounts in Phylogenetic Order except that Birds are Placed after Mammals." Within these sections are detailed accounts of bird observation and collecting, as well as species lists complete with general and specific information regarding that species. Entries are dated, and often include locality, time, numbers of birds, behavior, and calls. Some sketches are also included.
