Abstract

This folder contains specimen lists and related items for collections from the schooner Grampus and other sources. One list, "U.S. Fish Commission, Brachyura, Grampus Fla. collection, 1889," lists crabs collected in Florida on a cruise of the Grampus. Stations numbers range approximately from 5055 to 5122. Another list is titled "List of collections received from Sch. Grampus, June, 1888, at the National Museum." It lists shrimp, crabs, and other invertebrates collected from dredging, surface towing, and fish specimens from along the Atlantic coast of North America. "List of specimens received from the Life-Saving Service, since January 1888" lists whales, seals and a sunfish (Mola rotunda) collected in 1888 to 1890 from localities along the Atlantic coast of the United States. The folder also includes correspondence relating to the specimen lists and correspondence related to collecting. Some correspondence is dated 1891.
