Request permissionsDownload image PrintThis folder includes the field notes of Robert E. Silberglied from work conducted on the Galapagos Islands in 1967-1971, and unknown years. The folder includes 1 volume of field notes as well as loose typed and hand written field notes. The volume is undated and includes a series of photocopied maps of the Galapagos Islands that have been pasted into the book. Each map is hand-colored to show the distribution of insects by order/suborder, species, and locality (island name). Localities include: Baltra, Chavez, Espaniola, Fernandina, Floreana, Genovesa, Isabela, Marchena, Pinzon, Pinta, Rabida, San Cristobal, Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, Santa Maria, and Santiago. The loose field notes are dated 9 March 1970 (and undated) and include narrative entries that describe travel conditions, lost equipment / luggage, travel notes, observations of landscape and animals, and a hand drawn map of the Galapagos. Typed notes on Galapagos Heterocera by Perry and Devries are also included. The typed loose notes appear to be photocopies.
