This is volume 4 of a field book detailing bird, egg, and nest observation and collecting by S. F. Blake from 1906-1959. The notebook is generally organized by species, often with multiple dated entries under each species heading. Entries may include locality, sex, measurements, time of day, situation, and other general observations. Birds are usually observed but some specimens are collected, with collection numbers present. Localities include but are not limited to Maryland, Virginia, California, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia. Species headings are numbered 731-768. Also included in this volume are specimen lists of mammals and birds within Blake's collection, lists of dates when certain species of birds were fist observed, additional miscellaneous notes on birds, and entries for bird species from foreign countries. Some of the foreign localities include but may not be limited to England, Italy, and France.
