Abstract

This is volume 1 of a field book detailing bird, egg, and nest observation and collecting by S. F. Blake from 1907-1956. The notebook is generally organized by species, often with multiple dated entries under each species heading. Entries may include locality, sex, measurements, time of day, situation, and other general observations. Birds are usually observed but some specimens are collected, with collection numbers present. Localities include but are not limited to Texas, Maryland, Florida, California, and the District of Columbia. Species headings are numbered 1-321. There are some additional miscellaneous notes and bird lists present, as well as some correspondence.
