Abstract

This field book consists of the field notes of William R. Maxon, from field work in District of Columbia, New York, Maryland, Virginia, and Jamaica, in 1899 and 1903. Collector numbers 1 through 2049 are included. Entries include: collector number, scientific name, locality, and date. Some entries include collecting locality notes (on rocks, trail, etc.). Localities include: Washington (DC), Rock Creek Park (DC), Oneida (NY), Syracuse (NY), Garrett Park (MD), Cabin John (MD), Fairfax County (VA), Mount Vernon (VA), Port Antonio (Jamaica), Annatto Bay (Jamaica), Castleton (Jamaica), Cinchona (Jamaica), and Plummers Island (MD). A short journal for the Jamaica collecting trip can be found in the back pages of the book. The entries describe Maxon's travel itinerary, and daily activities (including collecting specimens).
