Abstract

The diary of Edward Preble documents his work in the Athabaska-Mackenzie region in June - September, 1904. Entries are dated, usually including destinations listed at the top of entries. Entries detail daily activities and distance traveled; individuals hired and interactions with local inhabitants; observations of vegetation; mammals and birds listed with scientific or common names; physical surroundings; individuals visited; lists of names of individuals; information on canoes; and lists of specimens collected. Locations include the vicinity of Mackenzie River, North Nahanni River, Fort Good Hope, and Fort Simpson.
