The title on the covers of these two volumes is "Original log book of the 'Gannet,' United States Fish Commission." The first volume, dated 4 August to 26 September 1924, includes station numbers G1 - G49. Localities are along and off the coasts of Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. The second volume is dated 29 December 1924 to 13 August 1925 and includes station numbers G50 - [G]69. The flyleaf of this volume indicates that investigations were in the Gulf of Maine by Captain George Greenleaf. In each volume there are two pages for each station number, with the fields station no., date, hour, position, locality, depth, bottom, sample, wind, sea, and sky. There are also tables to record temperature at different depths, currents, and nets, etc. used, as well space for notes. It appears that much of the sampling at each station was done by trawling. Information on fish and eggs collected is included in the notes section, along with other remarks.
