Abstract

This journal details the field work of Frank Knowlton for the United States Geological Survey from June 30 - September 30, 1888 in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming and Montana. Dated daily entries include travel accounts, daily activity, descriptions of soils, rocks, and specific localities, collecting of plant and plant fossil specimens, and various measurements of distance. Also included are a number of sketches, both geological, depicting rock layers, and cartographic, depicting roads and general areas.
