Abstract

This field book documents the field work of Henry Bassler for the United States Geological Survey from 1910-1915. Localities include but may not be limited to areas within New York state and Maryland. Dated entries include details of daily activity, as well as descriptions of fossils collected, soil composition, and rock layers. Descriptions may include composition, color, depth, measurements, and surrounding terrain. Plant and gastropod fossils are discussed. There are geological sketches present within the notebook, as well as on a separate loose sheet. Some correspondence is also included.
