Abstract

Correspondence documents collecting done by Charles Orcutt for the United States National Museum (USNM) and The United States Geological Survey (USGS) between 1926-1929. Includes plants, shells, insects, corral, and fossil specimens. Correspondence describe circumstance surrounding collecting efforts; these sometimes include descriptions of the environment, time of day, surrounding vegetation and terrain, weather, descriptions of condition from the environment. Letters refer to specimen numbers. Includes hand-drawn maps with notes referring to specimen collection locations. Responding correspondence lists specimen identifications. Locations in Jamaica include the vicinity of Port Royal, Claremont, Kingston, and Balaclava.
