Abstract

This volume is a catalog of bird specimens collected on Southern Island Cruise (SIC) 17 on the Pacific Ocean from 13 January to 19 February 1967 for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program. The volume contains two sections: records of collections made at sea are at the front of the volume, and records of collections made on islands are at the back of the volume. Positions are on the Pacific Ocean within the area approximately bounded by 17° S to 11° N and 168° to 180° W. Some records have the location "1 mile West of Howland Island Pacific Ocean" or "8 miles Southwest of Suva, Fiji" instead of coordinates. Species include Sterna fuscata [Onychoprion fuscatus] and others. Records in the island section date from 28 January to 19 February 1967. Field numbers span from 6858 to 6898.
