Abstract

The notebook documents Harrison G. Dyar's observations of collected insects and related rearing data for 1897 - 1898. Entries are organized by specimen numbers 679 - 732. Entries begin with name, sex, locality, date, collector is other than Dyar, and vegetation. Entries include descriptions related to phases of development. These include appearance, diet,colors, measurements, and related dates. There are loose inserts of notes related to specimens (includes 401A) and sketches of specimen anatomy. Some entries include tables of measurements and sometimes notes on specimen preparation. Sections copied in 1899 and 1900. Locations are in New York (Bellport, Southhaven, Yaphank); Florida (Jacksonville, Key West, Miami); Bahamas (Nassau); and Virginia (Rosslyn).
