Abstract

The notebook documents Harrison G. Dyar's observations of collected insects and related rearing data for 1897. Entries are organized by specimen numbers 626 - 678. Entries start with name, locality, date, vegetation and name of collector if other than Dyar. These are followed by descriptions relating to phase of development with details about appearance, diet, colors, measurements, and dates. A specimen was sent from Argentina. Notes extend through 1900 and sometimes include references to catalog numbers. Sometimes second number is listed at top of the page. Includes loose and pasted inserts; detailed sketches. Locations are in Florida (Miami River); New Jersey (Fort Lee); New York (Bellport, Bronx Park, Brookhaven, Jefferson).
