Abstract

The notebook documents Harrison G. Dyar's observations of collected insects and related rearing data for 1896-1897. Entries are organized by specimen numbers, 575-625. Some specimens were sent from other collectors. Entries begin with name, locality, vegetation, followed by description of characteristics relating to phases of development. Descriptions include appearance, colors, measurements, and related dates. Some include details about habitat or related catalog number. There are detailed sketches throughout, some inserted; one is in color. Notes extend to 1898. Locations are in Arizona (Tucson); Florida (Miami, Punta Suda (?)); Maryland (Stockton); New York (Bellport, Van Cortlandt Park, Greenwood Lake); New Jersey (Fort Lee); and New Hampshire.
