Abstract

The notebook documents Harrison G. Dyar's observations of collected insects and related rearing data for 1895. Entries are dated and organized by numbers, 532 - 574. Entries begin with type, locality, and vegetation. Some specimens were collected by other collectors. They follow with descriptions of characteristics: diet, sex, appearance, including colors and measurements and dates relating to phases of development. There are sketches of specimen anatomy throughout. Includes inserted notes, sketches and colored illustrations, pressed leaf, sections copied dated 1897. One specimen sent from Germany. Locations are in New Hampshire (Jefferson Highlands); New York (Van Cortlandt Park); New Mexico (Las Cruces); and Florida (Lake Worth).
