Abstract

This item is a field book by Leonhard Stejneger detailing his field work with birds from 1882-1883 on Bering Island, in the Commander Islands group of Russia. Entries are organized by species, are dated, and include general information and observations of bird characteristics and behavior. Accounts of hunting and collecting specimens are present, as well as some field numbers throughout. There is an alphabetical index of species in the front, and sketches of birds interspersed. Also present is a specimen list from Bering Island and a specimen list from the Faeroe Islands numbered 1-124.
