Abstract

This volume is a field journal of fish surveys off of islands of the Marshall Islands. Notes were recorded for drums 1 through 9 from 15 October to 11 November 1964. The numbered drums may be containers used to store fish collected at each locality. The notes for most drums refer to fish poisoned inside of lagoons, so it appears that a piscicide was used for sampling. Information recorded for each drum includes locality, date, and, for most drums, a description of where fish were poisoned, including water depth. Notes for drum 6 at Kwajalein Island for 29 October - 8 November indicate that fish were caught with fish traps and hook and lines off of a pier, instead of piscicide. Notes for drum 6 provide measurements for a brown ray; otherwise, no specific fish data are included.
