Abstract

The journal and notes document the field work of Charles O. Handley, Jr. in Labrador, June 21 - September 7, 1950. Entries are headed with date and locality or route. Descriptions start with departure from Boothbay Harbor, Maine aboard the vessel, the Blue Dolphin. Entries are dated and headed with location or route. Entries describe the crew, terrain, habitat, vegetation, life aboard ship, birds observed and collected, collecting methods, weather, collected mammals, daily activities including meals, interactions with colleagues, campsites. Includes a list of books on Labrador and Arctic in the Blue Dolphin Library. Mammal notes are organized by type of mammal, headed with scientific name, followed by date, locality and description of observations and specimen collecting. Sailed toward Booth Bay Harbor Maine to Cape Breton Island,along the coast of Canada.
