Abstract

This volume is a catalog of bird specimens collected at sea and on the Leeward Islands in October 1966 for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program. There are two sets of records in the volume. The first set, dating from October 9-22, 1966, is the catalog of bird collections made. Fields include field number, species, locality, date, sex, gonads, weight, blood, ecto, soft pt. color, and molt. Field numbers span from 40702 to 40717 and 40776 to 40781. Collections were made in an area of the Pacific Ocean approximately bounded by 14° to 17° N and 168° to 174° W, as well as on Laysan Island. The second set of records begins a few pages after the first and appears to be a catalog of ectoparasite samples from bird hosts. Fields include collection number, field number, host, sex, body area, date, and locality. Records in this set are dated 9-19 October, 1966, with collection numbers 1 through 21. The field number field cross-references records in this set with the specimen records earlier in the volume. Collections were made in the area of the Pacific Ocean described above; one collection was also made on Lisianski Island.
