Abstract

The notebook documents Harrison G. Dyar's observations and rearing of insects, 1893. Begins with a list of expenses compiled by Mrs. Dyar from 1893. These are followed by notes on numbers 342 and 362. After, entries are organized by number, listed at the top of the page. Entries include name, location, date, vegetation, and descriptions. These include details of appearance, colors, measurements, phases of life cycle with related dates. Location description sometimes includes information beyond town and state (landowners' name). Some specimens were sent to him by other collectors. Some numbers are followed by letters (390B). Includes loose inserts with sketches of insect anatomy and notes on specimens (numbered). There are notes intermittently until 1901. Locations are in Massachusetts (Medford, Woods Hole), California (Watsonville), and Montana (Miles City).
