Abstract

The field book documents the work of William Dall in Southern Oregon, Coos Bay, and University of California, 1897, while working for the United States Geological Survey. Entries are dated and pertain to geological study of locations in Oregon. They include descriptions of specimens collected (including bag number); locations; observations of terrain; and descriptions of formations and characteristics of rock. Includes list of recent shells from Coos Bay and lists of strata with descriptions. The second portion of the notebook describes collections of fossils at University of California at Berkley. Additional locations include the vicinity of Oakland, Diller Station, and Callapooya.
