Abstract

The notebook documents Harrison G. Dyar's observations and collecting of lepidoptera, July 1890 - 1891. It covers specimen numbers BB213 - BB270. Entries are organized by number and lists date, sometimes collecting location. They cover descriptions of specimen characteristics (appearance, color, measurements, diet), phases of the its life cycle (sometimes with date). Sometimes entries are followed with catalog number. There are sketches and colored illustrations of insect anatomy. Extra notes across pages from 1896, loose inserted notes, hand-drawn sketches (color and black and white), copied sections in 1893. Listed locations include California (Yosemite) and New York (Ulster county).
