Abstract

Envelopes 49 - 71 include images (negatives and photographs) taken by Edward A. Chapin while he completed field work in Jamaica, 1937. Envelopes are labeled with subject matter and location. Subject matter include coastlines, candid images while collecting, landscapes, Hope Gardens, collecting methods, vegetation, colleagues including Blackwelder, collecting locations, historic structures including fortifications, coastlines of rivers, and entomology laboratory space. Includes images that were used in his field book in collection SIA Acc. 11-085. Sometimes the photographs have descriptions on the reverse side. Locations include Hope Bay, Mammee River, Black River, and Derry.
